GRAND PALAIS
As a curator for the Paris Biennial, appointed by the Chilean Ministry of Culture, I had the immense honor of showcasing the rich tapestry of Chilean artisanal creation. Chile’s rugged, isolated landscape has long shaped its art, infusing it with a unique blend of rawness and refinement. The country’s artists have always drawn inspiration from two key elements: the perpetuation of tradition through the transmission of ancestral techniques and the use of raw, endemic materials found only in Chile’s diverse natural environment. In recent years, a new generation of Chilean artists has emerged, daring to question the boundaries of traditional craftsmanship and pushing the envelope in their pursuit of innovation. This generation, driven by curiosity and a deep respect for their cultural heritage, is crafting a new language of artistry—one that honors the past while embracing the future. At the Grand Palais, we celebrated this bold exploration of creativity, offering the world a glimpse into Chile’s vibrant artistic soul.
